There is not only the M6 chain which is interested in Mauritius. This Sunday, February 5, National Geographic Channel broadcast a program “travel at the end of hell: Mauritius”, on “Calvary” of a young South African share in Mauritius.
The National Geographic Channel broadcast certainly did not a very telling effect. The former South African Brigene Young spoke of “his martyrdom” but the show demonstrates, at the same time, his naivety for agreeing to wear a pair of shoes stuffed with drug against a dream in Mauritius trip.
In the program starts when Brigene Young is addressed at the bar where she works by a Cijay, an evening. The latter proposed to offset heels shoes and fly for a week of vacation in Mauritius. “He looked so relaxed.” I agreed and he took a bag from which it pulled out the pair of shoes he gave me. “Then, he gave me a Sim Card and a number to contact when I am arrived in Mauritius”, says the young woman.
Brigene Young thus takes the aircraft in the direction of Maurice. With trip of Vodka which does not prevent it to feel a concern until the airport of pleasure. But the bartender says also that despite these misgivings, it was this trip. Having walked the Mauritius ground, she noticed that men watched him a suspect air.
“I me am forced to be happy.” It was hard. My eyes remained fixed on them. I saw all the other passengers take their bags and leave. “I am supposed to do like them but I know that this will not happen like that,” she said.
Later in the film, we learn that these men are in fact of bloodhounds of the anti-drug brigade. They eventually stop at the airport. “At that moment, I thought that everything was finished.” “You have played a game and you lost,” she continues.
The men of the brigade drug asked the young woman to remove her shoes. They perforate the sole and a white powder emerges: 896,9 grams of heroin in his possession were hidden.
Then begins its “cooperation” with the police after she had said that she did not know that the shoes contained the drug. She agrees to lead them to the local contact of Cijay in exchange for his freedom.
Order of the South African dealer, Brigene Young headed amber hotel. From there, Cijay has put in contact with the Mauritian dealer. The latter will come join them in the evening to take the shoes. She accompany police officers for a controlled delivery.
However, when showing the scene where it gives shoes to the Mauritian trafficker, Brigene Young said that the police tried to stop the smuggler who was on his car while they were on foot. It even adds that she found this ridiculous gesture on the part of the police.
The police who could not get their hands on the Mauritian dealer, Brigene will have to spend the night in jail. She shared the cell of two other inmates, Nazima and Marie-France. She said that the police were asked to participate in a line-up of the trafficker.
In the broadcast, the suspects are in open space, daylight and the young woman had to circulate between the men finally said that it recognized person. However, the story until the end of the year, she noted a detail in one of the suspects: a tooth gold. She knew that it was the dealer but it was already too late.
It is renewed in cell and learns that she will be sentenced to 45 years in prison. During the night, Brigene Young tells while she hears a howl from the prison of men. According to her, these last were violating and no one intervened.
For its part, Brigene Young is serving his sentence along with several other young women who experienced the same fate that she. Some inject their doses of drugs with previously used syringes. She also speaks of the altercations that she had with another detainee.
In the meantime, the tribunal decides to reduce his sentence to seven years. In 2010, she learns this good news. It can then return to his country. She found her sister, she was left without explanation. The show ends on the pictures of the reunion.
